Homer Walkup Pastor Education Masters in Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary/ Fort Worth, Texas 1976 Bachelor of Arts in History, University of Texas at Arlington 1972 Personal Statement I was raised in a Christian home and at an early age realized my need to trust Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. I made that decision at the First Baptist Church of Air Base City, Hobbs, New Mexico. In 1963, at Paris, Texas I felt God was calling me into the pastoral ministry. Since then He has continued to confirm that call through the various stages of Spritual Growth and maturity in which He has led me. I believe that God's ministry for me in the church is a Pastor/Teacher. I am to care for the members as a shepherd would his sheep and I am to equip the members for the work of the ministry. --------------------------------------------------- Reverend Homer Walkup was licensed in 1963 at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Reno, Texas. He was ordained at that same church September 25, 1966. He has been in the ministry for 45 years and has been at Lake Shore for 19 years. "Soon I became involved with the Youth at that church and choir. In January 2005 I was called to serve as Youth and Music Minister of Pleasant Grove First Baptist Church. I served there untill Feburary 4, 2006. That's when I was called here to serve as Youth Pastor at Lake Shore Baptist Church."
